An
executive without confidence or communication skills
A Director of Research &
Development and Pilot Operations at a manufacturing facility was
having difficulty precisely communicating project status and any
resulting corrective actions. Complaints
came in from the director’s peers and other executives because they
were not confident that the pilot projects were being managed
successfully, even though all of the work was finished on time.
After some coaching by a Cornelius & Associates’ executive
coach, this director gained confidence that inspired his staff and peers
to have more faith in his actions and abilities.
In fact, one of the executives that had logged complaints in the
past began to submit compliments and gave the director more
responsibility. In the long
run, the director’s increased confidence had a positive influence on
his whole division.
A technical worker
lacked people skills
A highly competent and
skilled chemist for a manufacturing facility was having a difficult time
managing his direct reports. The
organization did not want to risk losing the chemist's unique expertise,
but things just could not continue the way they were going.
The HR department tried doing some internal coaching and feedback
sessions, giving the chemist some general advice to improve.
However, the chemist resisted these methods.
One of Cornelius & Associates’ supervisory and technical
coaches was called in to do some objective assessments, and then was
able to give the chemist specific tools and interaction approaches that
he could begin implementing immediately.
Within a very short time, the chemist had made many noticeable
changes in how he interacted with fellow workers and direct reports.
Not only did relations improve, but also the chemist’s
confidence in is own abilities to manage was raised, which also had a
positive impact on his department.
A plant manager
faced with negative attitudes
A plant manager for a manufacturing
facility was facing negative employee attitudes, low morale and a
volatile culture that was not only obvious but also demonstrated in poor
attitude survey results. A
Cornelius & Associates’ executive coach delivered one-on-one
coaching and training to the plant manager and our team of supervisory
and technical coaches worked with the supervisory crew and hourly leads
in improving leadership skills. As
a result, attitudes improved and the plant received high ratings on the
next attitude survey for the job, the company and the local management.
Also, the plant reached critical goals for the first time that
year, while greatly increasing its productivity.
A
director needed anger management tools
A department
director at a service organization was highly intimidating to his staff
that was causing friction in his department.
A Cornelius & Associates supervisory and technical coach was
called in and began delivering specific tools and training in anger
management. Shortly,
everyone began noticing a dramatic difference in his attitude towards
his employees: he got along better with associates, was able to realize
when he was stepping over the line and was able to exhibit teamwork
