A team sponsor is the first of the four necessary team-support elements:
sponsor, clear purpose, means to measure accomplishments, and the resources
and time to work toward the clear purpose.  A sponsor’s job is to ensure
that all four are in place to support a team.

This program is designed to help managers understand their new roles in sponsoring and championing work teams toward success.  Many organizations have a lot of time, resources, and manpower tied up in team projects and team efforts.  Managers are in a unique position to ensure that those efforts are successful.

This course covers the steps that sponsors must take to get a team started on a solid footing, stay focused on their goals and missions, and add value to the business.  The purpose of the course is to clarify new roles, apply a structured approach to managing team efforts, and develop the skills necessary to monitor team efforts.

  2. Understand the three types of teams, when to use each, and when a team is not needed.

  4. Identify the three key questions to ask whenever starting a team.
